This is an online petition, where people are able to leave comments and "sign" a petition to keep Charlie Weis at Notre Dame. I for one, am a proponent of Notre Dame maintaing mediocrity and finding ways to embarrass itself. I suggest you join the movement. www.keepcharlieweis.com

'But in the bigger picture - Coach Weis deserves a fifth year. Coach Weis loves Notre Dame, is recruiting incredibly well, and has the team positioned for a strong year in 2009. Yes, Coach Weis has made mistakes: not developing talent, questionable play calling, not having a competitive team in 2007 and rubbing many the wrong way – but those are done. We have someone who loves ND, is recruiting very well and continues to learn from his mistakes.' Wow, that is some awful reasoning. Come on, Domers, didn't you learn how to make a better argument than that? That's Spartan-caliber essay writing. And later: 'Looking at Weis’ performance, I believed he overachieved expectations in years 1 & 2 by taking us to consecutive BCS games. This is a huge accomplishment. While he was coaching Willingham’s players, he was able to get out of them what Ty could not. The players are better now and as they mature, the consistency of the argument would suggest that Weis would turn it around... Off the field, Weis has recruited as well, if not better, than any other single coach in the country. This fact is highly contributed to his love and understanding of Notre Dame as a former student, and should not be considered lightly. His recruiting alone should get him another year. Our former coach was deficient in both coaching AND recruiting.' So we know that ND fans really, really hate Ty Willingham, but are willing to tolerate the same record with the Fat Man b/c 'OMG he totally gets Notre Dame! And, like, he is an awesome recruiter!' This after the writer notes that Charlie's two BCS appearances were with Ty's recruits. And ignoring that Charlie's recruiting classes, although highly ranked, have not produced a winner on the field. After 4 years. Again, wow. Needless to say, I signed.

He probably does deserve a 5th year. His team does suck, but he did double his wins from last year, so maybe he can do the same next year? Ha, I highly doubt it, but the impatience of ND fans shouldn't be a factor for their AD's decision. I haven't watched many Notre Dame games so I can't say I know where their problems are, but I know last year they were young on both sides of the ball and a 3-9 season isn't fixed very easily. From what I have seen though, I can understand why their fans should expect better (and I expect better from Rich Rod next year, because our 3-9 team IMO is world's better than theirs), especially with ND's cupcake schedule. But I agree a majority of the websites logic is faulty and very ND
