Tonight at Crisler Arena the Michigan Women's Gymnastics Team came in second place, beating out Alabama and Nebraska to advance to the National Championship. It was clear early in the night that UCLA would be the regional champion, and the Wolverines and Tide spent the evening locked in a tight battle for second place and the region's second berth to the National Championship. Michigan went into the final rotation up 0.275, and while Alabama managed to close the gap to .050, it wasn't enough to keep the home team from advancing.

The atmosphere at Crisler was great, with all four teams sending a solid contingent of fans. UCLA was extremely impressive, with Olympian Kyla Ross posting two perfect 10s. UCLA also boasts a second Olympian in Madison Kocian, as well as viral sensation Katelyn Ohasi. The Wolverines were anchored by Natalie Wojcik and Olivia Karas tying for second in the all-around, as well as 9.900's on the Floor by Emma McLean and Abby Brenner. Wojcik's 9.925 on the Floor on Friday earned her an individual regional championship as well.

The National Championships are in Fort Worth on 4/19-20. It seems unlikely Michigan has a shot at a team championship given that they'll have to face UCLA again, but an individual event championship for Wojcik does not seem out of the question.
