Wisconsin Trip

Submitted by MSUwolverine1989 on
I'm heading to the Wisconsin game this year and am looking for some advice...I'm taking the train to Milwaukee and being picked up by a buddy who goes to school in Green Bay...I need some advice on a good affordable place to stay...we are both college students and money is obviously is tight...just looking for some tips from anyone who has made the trip... Thanks in advance

I live right in between Milwaukee and Madison. A lot of visitors stay at the hotels in Johnson Creek. They aren't too pricey and it's only about 40 minutes to the stadium from there. Just be prepared to park way far away from the stadium and hoof it in, because there isn't good parking anywhere near the stadium.

I live in Madison right now and have a couple of thoughts for you. You might post on the Madison Craigslist page that you would pay a little for a place to crash- folks are very accomodating here, even to us Wolverines, and you might be able to harness the power of other poor college kids who are looking for 40 bucks. I might be uncomfortable with that, but some friends of mine have done that here in the past and it worked out well for them. Also, there are lots of hotels east of town by the highway and the airport that are nowhere near as expensive, but a 20-25 drive (or cab ride? cabs are cheepish here) would get you out there. Check em out? Good luck.

I went 2 years ago and we stayed at the Red Roof Inn by the main highway. It wasn't on campus by any means but it was only a $15 cab ride or so each way and the room was cheap.

Make up a story about being an Alum from a fraternity and pass out on one of their couches if said sorority/girls dorm doesn't pan out.

Also trying to make travel plans for all the away games--anyone have good advice about how in the heck to fly in to this place? Is Cedar Rapids the best airport? Advice on places to stay?

I'm making the trip up to Madison too. A couple of my friends are rooming together and attending school in Madison so they are letting me stay with them. I'm looking forward to this game. HOpefully Blue prevails and we can talk smack all the way back!

but honestly if ur in college ... either pass out in your car or just some random house ... supposedly madison is a great place to party (never been but they do have mulitple lakes on campus) which means get really drunk and pass out is some random house by campus ... this is college, it is not weird, an shit happens .... then wakeup, drink more, and cheer the boys to victory
