After a tough loss just 3 days ago at Nebraska where a lead was blown and nothing seemed to go right in the second half with turnovers and fouls galore, Michigan came out on fire today.

#12 Minnesota was in town on dollar ticket day, 20% off at MDen day to get as many people in the building as possible for this New Year's Eve game. They saw a great game as Michigan came out swinging, going punch-for-punch in the 1st quarter leading 15-13.

Up by 4 in the 2nd quarter, Michigan went on a 14-0 run to close the first half that included a Hailey Brown jumper at the buzzer to go up 40-22 at halftime.

No blown leads this time as Michigan came out of the locker room like they did in the first half, eventually pushing the lead to 26.

Freshman point guard Amy Dilk--who has struggled early on a little bit--led Michigan in scoring with 14 points and 5 assists. Hallie Thome stayed out of foul trouble this game and had 14 points of her own and 6 rebounds. Coming off the bench was freshman Naz Hillman who nearly had a double double with 9/8.

Michigan hands #12 Minnesota their first loss of the season at Crisler Center, 76-60.

The Wolverines are now 10-4 and 1-1 in B1G play. A Saturday road game at Purdue is up next.

I went to the OHSAA girls state finals game where Toledo Rogers won the state title (first basketball state title in the city of Toledo since Jim Jackson was at Macomber in the late 80s - a school that no lounger exists). Rogers has a girl that is going to South Carolina next year - and she is just filthy - but the team they were playing had a player that was great inside and outside. I wondered who it was and when I looked her up, it was Naz Hillmon. She’s going to be a great do it all type player. I don’t watch enough women’s basketball to make a comp, so I’ll jusy use Draymond Green. No crotch kicks though. She’s going to be a great player for us.
