WBB: #21 Michigan v. Wisconsin, BTN
Celebrate the win over Indiana by watching more Michigan basketball on Big Ten Network. Wolverines are up 5 a couple minutes into the second half. We'll probably end up stomping the Badgers. It's a good excuse to not get up from your couch for another 40 minutes or so.
Michigan star Katelyn Flaherty already has 25 points.

Just switched over myself - thanks!

Glad Flaherty's found her groove again. She sort of disappeared the last couple games. More a matter of good D than anything else but still.

LOL - "Thome alone"

I don't even blame the announcer. It was right there. She had no choice in the matter.

This was a lot closer than I expected but we're pulling away late up 11. We blew this team out back in January.

Katelynn Flaherty has her thid 30-point game in the last month in a half(!), going for 35 in this one as Michigan takes it, 75-66.
We're now 21-5 and 10-2 in the B1G.
We'll head to Indiana on Thursday night and then face MSU at Crisler a week from today.

How far away is Flaherty from being #1 all-time scorer for Michigan? Can she do it?
February 12th, 2017 at 4:20 PM ^
Absolutely. She's shooting up the chart. She's at #2 right now with 1,799 points.
She just need 278 points to pass Diane Dietz. She has the rest of this season and her senior year next year to do it.
She's already the all-time leader in 3 pointers.

Cool. I knew she was #2. I just didn't know what the gap was. But 278 is basically a done-deal. Only an average of 9 points/game the rest of her career. And that's not even including the post-season.

Looks like she could get there during the elite 8

I suspect that the two of you worked together at sports info?? He was a student assistant, who went on to become the Assistant SID at Northwestern, before leaving the business. Will Perry was the SID (assisted by Bruce Madej and Jim Schneider) when he was there.
The women's team circa 1980 featured Dietz at SG, Lori Gnatkowski at PG, Katie McNamara at SF, and Penny Neer (mother of current UM drum major) at PF, and Abby Currier at C. There was also a forward named Jeanne White who, IIRC, married one of the hockey players.
And you didn't need to estimate the size of the crowd at the women's games. You could count the number of fans in attendance, and double digits was the norm rather than the exception.

My brother graduated in 1982. Went on to get a grad degree at Northwestern and was Assitant SID under Sharon Miller. Other student assistants at U-M during his tenure included Gregg Burke and Mike Bovino.
I think that Patrice Donovan was related to Anne Donovan, who was something like 6'8" and I think was on the Olympic team.
I was the PA announcer for some games around 1984. There was a 6'6" center who must have weighed 275 pounds. She took up a lot of space in a 2-3 zone, but constantly got into foul trouble. Not sure on this one, but I believe that she got kicked off the team before the end of the season for some type of theft-related activity. And this was before things hit rock bottom!
