Updated Records: Michigan All-Time Touchdowns

I'm sharing this as an informative update. Personally, I'm just passing the time before I leave for the game. I have a deep interest in statistics, which dates back to my childhood when I spent an excessive amount of time examining small 2.5" x 3.5" pieces of cardboard featuring pictures of my favorite baseball players.

We've had multiple discussions on this topic in the past on the site. Recently, I decided to investigate Corum's status, and while examining the records, I noticed the addition of a new list for All-Time Individual Touchdown Records. The exact date of this addition remains unclear, but it's apparent that it wasn't part of the original design.

It's uncertain whether this addition signifies a change in the official records, possibly including pre-modern era games (pre-1938), or not.  I did not see any other individual stats from the pre-modern era for anything other than touchdowns.

If these are now the official records the updated list now features Willie Heston's 72 touchdowns as the individual all-time career touchdown record.

Furthermore, this update revises the all-time individual game record, which was previously shared by Ron Johnson, Haskins, and Corum at 5 touchdowns. The new all-time single game record would be 7 touchdowns, held by Al Herrnstein, and was established against Michigan Agricultural College (MSU) in 1902. The previous record of 5 touchdowns would be shared by a larger group of players.

Additionally, this update modifies the all-time single-season touchdown record. Previously, it was held by Desmond Howard at 23 touchdowns in 1991. Now, Al Herrnstein's record of 26 touchdowns, set in 1902, would take its place.

TruBluMich, ill be honest, I'm lazy so I don't want to do the research. Since you say you have an interest in stats, could you compare our turnovers gained this season to the last 10 or 20? I feel like we are actually getting more interceptions this year compared to years past

Except Sports Reference stats are based on the NCAA career stats which do not count bowl game stats prior to 2002, where as Michigan does count those stats towards records. Sports Reference has Anthony Thomas, who holds the modern era rushing touchdown record, with 49 career rushing touchdowns. Michigan has the total at 55 career rushing touchdowns.  The difference being bowl games.
