U-M Hockey vs OSU - Friday Open Thread
Welp. Rivalry games. Even when MSU is bad, it's often hard to get a sweep. And now we're tied for 5th with 11 pts. (PSU is the cellar dweller with 9 pts. ND 4th with 12.) OSU is 3rd with 13 pts, so - and this will be a 2nd half of season theme - we need to get those Ws. Beating the Buckeyes would be beneficial.

People who program sports networks are dumb. A couple of decades ago when I lived in Chicago CBS wouldn't show Michigan's game in the early rounds of the tournament because they thought everyone wanted to watch Valpo.

Looked close to a draw during the first. No goals. Shots about even. One power play each. Both teams had some chances. Both goalies made good saves. I'd give a slight edge to us but we need to put something together in the second.

Somewhere inbetween. I feel like passes have been off a lot tonight, not getting crisply to the intended target. Sometimes we gain the zone, pass it up to the next guy, who isn't even at half boards before a weak drop pass that gets cleared, and we have to reset. A lot of shots right into the goalie. Portillo looks good, but I don't know that many shots have challeneged him. So our D has been OK.
