Two show ideas for next year

Submitted by TXWolverine44 on

So, there are two official show ideas for next year but no set songs for said shows:

Imported From Detroit

and

Viral Video Show

The directors are accepting ideas for songs (i'd assume nothing explicit/too explicit). I think songs by Eminem, Wihte Stripes, Motown or a combination are being tossed around. So i'm asking what the mgoblogosphere might think would be good songs and representations of Detroit? I think we should stay away from the white stripes since penn state has taken overship of 7 nation army.

In that case.......although I think "Imported from Detroit" would be the popular selection, "Viral Internet Videos" would be more versatile. I would personally get a kick out of seeing the MMB do this song......

Please, please throw some J Dilla beats into the Imported From Detroit show. It's been done with an orchestra, I imagine a marching band could make some kind of arrangement that sounds good.

Also, the Viral Videos show better include some Friday

MSU did a viral video song with some dude from a certain viral video popular on YouTube conducting the band and the stadium in doing his particular dance, and it was amazingly lame.  Just.  Pathetic.

Tread carefully, my friends.

But not old time rock n roll.

<br>Viral videos could be epic fail (see what I did there). How bad would it be to hear the tinny keyboard cat music rendered by 300 real instruments? Also, 30,000 people will be simultaneoulsy explaining to thier section why friday is funny or what bed intruders are. Save those for pep band.

would anything by Lonely Island count as viral? They could do I'm on a Boat, Jizzed in my pants, Motherlover, Dick in Box, or Like a Boss. I would lose it if the MMB did I Just Had Sex.

Agree with NOT "old time rock & Roll". Imported from Detroit could be really cool if it spread generations, have some Mo-Town and some Seger and some Eminem etc.

What about one of the Ok Go songs?  The "Here it Goes" treadmills are kind of overdone, but A Rube Goldberg formation done to "This Too Shall Pass" might be fun.  It'd also be nice to show the Notre Dame band how that song sounds when played well, too...
