Travis Bond to announce next week

Submitted by TomVH on
Travis Bond is announcing his college choice next week. He's unsure of the exact day, but said it will be next week. He told me the four schools he will be choosing from are ECU, NC State, North Carolina, and Michigan. He refused to tell me a top two, but said Michigan is up there. The way he spoke to me, I got the feeling that he wasn't picking Michigan. That's just my opinion though.

so that leaves quinton washington and the long shot hall ? still pretty damn good prospects. i just hope we nail one of these guys. banking on the fact TomVH is right, which tends to be common.

really enjoyed himself when he visit AA. With the added plus of that being his first trip, the bar has been set high for the other to match. With him stating that leaving SC isn't a issue...that bode well for R2 and staff. I get a warm fuzzy feeling about his decision...better than Bond or Hall pending decision.

With last year's 6 linemen, it seems odd that we'd still be interested in Bond after already bringing in two good tackle prospects in Schofeld and Lewan (LaLota maybe too). Skepticism about last year's class? Or are they mostly seen as interior guys at this point? (Obviously you go after Hall no matter how many takcles you've got on the roster.) Washington's seemingly been the only guard on the board for a while now.

the staff's philosophy has been "best 5 play" which means a lot of guys learn more than one position. So someone projecting to a tackle spot could always end up getting time at guard, even if its that player's second best position. plus we should probably have room to withstand a couple of guys not panning out.

Washington is a guard prospect. But others are tackles. Height is the enemy of guards, so I don't imagine there are going to be too many 6'7" guys playing much guard. Khoury, Mealer, Wermers, and Barnum are all interior guys. O'Neill, Omameh, Lewan, and Schofield are all exterior guys. That's a pretty good balance.
