Sports media and internet sports fans blowing something wildly out of proportion? I don't believe it.

/reads Scout thread on why RR is a failure and will be fired in 6 months because he isn't attending charity golf event in Saginaw

Thank you Diabeetus.....can we finally put this "gentleman's agreement" to rest?.............. Verbal commitments are not binding, and Tiller admitted that his program has benefited from recruits changing their minds and signing with Purdue at the last minute. "Dustin Keller was committed to Toledo but we got him, right at the end of recruiting," Tiller said. "We've gotten (other) players on the very last day. It's not a program, or a coach. It's the system.

Questions to Joe Paterno about retirement not actually about when HE will stop coaching, but rather when is it a good idea for a coach to do so in general.

In other words: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. And it only took him five months to "set the record straight"; obviously Tiller was not particularly interested in doing so.

I think the most likely explanation is that immediately after he had the highest-rated recruit in his class poached at the last minute, he spouted shit in frustration that he may not have fully meant and, months down the line, after it was quoted ad nauseum, regretted.
