throw it down, big man!

I am not too disturbed by the possibility of our basketball ending up in the NIT. Having some success in that tournament could be a good way for these guys to end the year. That being said, I think next year's team could be top 20 material if we can get an inside presence - not necessarily someone that would inspire Bill Walton to say "throw it down, big man!" (although that would be nice) - but someone who can rebound, defend the paint and get some easy baskets. With this in mind, I'm really hoping that we can nab Angus Brandt. I talked to someone today who teaches at his school and he mentioned that his high school program has ties to Oregon State that may favor them but that Angus may be personally favoring us. Anybody know how we can make room for this guy if he chooses Michigan? I know there was a Rivals link to it but I don't subscribe. I like that next year's team has some size already but Morgan and Cronin don't seem very athletic/talented and McLimans seems quite undersized, regardless of how good he can be. Any thoughts on our chances to get Brandt, how we can make room, or anything that has to do with Bill Walton?

Who would have thought that his absence would leave the chasmic like void it has in the middle of the floor for the Wolverines. Now, before anyone goes all Billy Packer on me, I am not saying that he would be a world beater. But he puts them in those games with Ohio State, Penn State and even Wisconsin just by his mere defensive presence and rebounding abilities. It is vital and I mean vital for Michigan to get the services of a servicable big man next year. That is the only way they are going to make a serious impact in the big ten. I don't know how they go about doing it, pulling an UNC, Alabama like recruiting class, putting a guy on the shoulders of another guy and calling them one player, trading the rights for Tractor Trailer's jersey to the Barnum and Bailey big tent circus. But whatever it takes they need to make it happen.
