Another #9 of note was Mercury Hayes, who has the distinction of being named after a planet. He also was the receiving end of the walk-off TD that beat Virginia in Lloyd’s first game as head coach. It was blistering hot that day in the Big House and I (gulp) left the game early in misery. I heard the giant roar from the crowd on the way back to the tailgate and knew I fucked up.  Bad Grampy, Faithless Grampy.

Also one of my favs from the RR era....Tay Odoms.  Man, I loved that dude, him and Vinny Smith.  Part of the Pahokee Pipeline IIRC.  

 

Quick story, at the OSU game back in 2011 with wifey (OSU fan) and others.  My dad and his pal didn't go into the game, they stayed back at the tailgate to watch on TV and cook food for the afterparty.  Anyway, wife can't drink that early without issues so after half she had a headache and wanted to go back to the tailgate and watch there.  Fine.  I need more beer anyway.  While there we always had players and parents pass the tailgate.  Well, we had a tent set up with some sides on it that butted up to the trailer with the TV and all that stuff.  A couple popped their heads in to check on the game as they could hear the audio and cheering from our crew.  Turns out it was Tay Odoms' parents.  Offered libations...they obliged.  I guess the parents were supposed to go meet at someplace in the football building.  Well, they gonna be late.  Stayed til the end of the game cheering, hugging, sharing stories and food and drink.  Great people.  I know, tl;dr, downvote away....9 effing days.  Let's go!!!

I know this is a picture from practice, but how does he throw with all those bracelets on his wrist?  Give the force of the throw, I'm guessing they would fall off.

Or, are they there for training to ensure the follow through is correct?
