There are...
...days until Ron Simpkins (LB 1976-1979) sees Michigan begin its season against Western on September 4th at the Big House.

Go Blue.
Of course, while the mid-60s remain a mostly forgotten era by fans – this all-time accomplishment from the great Ron Johnson has always been noted...

Check it out in better quality than ever thanks to the new football film archive!
31 carries, 347 yards, 5 TDs against Wisconsin that day. Then NCAA record. Wow.
Ticket stub in honor of Elroy "Crazylegs" Hirsch:
Dang - that ticket has a 10% federal (excise?) tax on it.
… and what’s 3 pm EWT?? East West Time?? East Quad-West Quad-Tussle?? Go EQ ! The fighting Benzingers? ( 202 Hinsdale here).
edit: ( google’s my friend) Before Daylight Saving Time there was War Time, I guess to save fuel to beat the Germans after they bombed Pearl Harbor. So Michigan was in Eastern War Time.
Good scanning, scanner.
I kinda like East West Time or, even better, Eastern Western Time. Has a Dr. Seuss quality to it.
Eastern War Time, says wikipedia
Fun watching the Ron Johnson rushing record game. Ron (George Hoey, Warren Sipp, and someone else) lived the floor above at 1025 Forest in my junior year. Ron was friendly and would stop to just chat.
That game was the only one I missed in my years at Michigan...paper due in Sidney Fine's class on Monday. It was pouring as I walked home from the library to watch the last quarter on TV (a rarity).
Thanks
