Shaquelle Evans to USC

ESPNU 150 wide receiver Shaq Evans has given the USC Trojans a soft commitment, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.
The nation's No. 3-rated pass-catcher still wants to visit Notre Dame, Cal and Colorado according to Shaq's mother, Kalisha.

ESPN's Tom Luginbill elaborated on the story, "Not only can Evans stretch the field vertically with speed and quickness, but he is also an accomplished return specialist that can change field position in a hurry. He has good size and a smooth stride. Along with Rolando Jefferson, Evans is the best wide receiver in the state and an elite national prospect."
"It is good to see USC go after a different body-type than the normal big, physical redzone threat they have built their passing game around in the past. Evans is much more like a Damian Williams and Ronald Johnson than he is a Dwayne Jarrett-type. They have now continued to diversify their receiving corp with size, speed, elusiveness and return capabilities in this group as a whole and Evans will be a welcome addition."

UCLA was previously the leader for Evans before its blowout loss to BYU and USC's dominant victory over Ohio State.

However, it's a "soft verbal" bullllllllllllll!

yeah, its BS. Evans was pretty adamant that he had NOT given a soft verbal to USC. i trust his own words vs. ESPNU. but low key, apparently we have a legitimate shot at him but possibly an even better chance to get Reuben Randle. i gotta say, regardless of how this class ends i'm already extremely pleased with how richrod is building a potential dynasty. oh the glass is half full.

Reuben Randle will remain in Louisiana becuase of the talent and potential

had he been in Florida, which Michigan has shown that they recruit well in, and like, we might have a chance. Shaq Evans probably will go to SC, but anybody remember Donovan Warren?

The best elite prospects we have a chance at landing are Will Campbell and Jelani Jenkins.
