SB (grand) slams Rutgers 18-0
Michigan set the tone for this game as soon as it started, with Sierra Lawrence hitting a leadoff homer in the 1st inning to give Michigan 1-0 lead.
After the homerun, lulz would ensue.
In the 3rd inning, Rutgers walked SiLo intentionally after she hit that leadoff HR in the first. Rutgers put two on with none out for Sierra Romero. Romero then hit a 2-run double to give Michigan 3-0 lead which eventually become a 4-0, 2nd inning lead, when Kelsey Susalla scored Romero on a rocket of a ball that the RU 1B couldn't grab.
In the bottom of the 4th with Michigan up 4-0, Rutgers walked Tera Blanco, Abby Ramirez reached second base on a bunt and throwing error and Rutgers WALKED Sierra Lawrence to load the bases...........with Sierra Romero up to bat.......with none out.
So, Romero up to bat with loaded bases and no outs. That didn't end very well for Rutgers. Romero hit her 9th career grand slam to put Michigan up 8-0. I literally sat in amazement reading that Rutgers walked SiLo to get to Romero with loaded bases.
Immediately after the grand slam, Kelly Christner hit a home run to give Michigan 9-0 lead.
Immediately after THAT, Kelsey Susalla hit a home run to push the lead to 10-0. Aidan Falk then hit an RBI single to give Michigan an 11-0 lead after 4 innings.
In the 5th and final inning, Christner came up big again, hitting a 3-run shot giving Michigan a 14-0 lead. That same exact inning after a Taylor Swearingen RBI single, Aidan Falk hit a 3-run homer of her own to give Michigan an 18-0 lead.
Betsa struck out 9 Scarlet Knights in this game. A great performance and Michigan's third straight run rule victory. Let's do it again tomorrow and Sunday.
WD Negbang!
What happened to nice MeanJoe07?
this is Michigan's 3rd biggest sport after all
this is the one that should stay up since it has a recap in it.
Wow! These girls can play.
Romero could probably compete with the boys, but I assume she will be tied up with Team USA during the off season
Romero is one of the best all-around softball players I've ever seen.
Wagner had the Homer against Minny, but still wondering why she is suddenly appearing in the batting line up while many others had been hitting well (swearingen, vargas, falk, etc).... including a lot of position players whose bats will be needed the next few years
Sweet played a little bit two weeks ago but has been out again. She's probably hurting still.
That's probably why we're seeing all these new faces in the lineup.

The DP slot has been an endless revolving door this season and it's sometimes difficult to make sense of the decisions. If it were my choice I would ride with Falk for a while, but I have no clue what Hutch will do. In her defense, it's a bit odd how the freshmen seem to sync up their hot games, in which they all look like world beaters, and also their longish cold stretches. Wagner may have asked Hutch for a shot at the plate, in which case I'm totally fine with giving her a chance.
Well done today, let's get two more!
I might make the trek to NJ to catch the game. Would be fun to see these ladies play in person.

Helps us with Jaylen?
I thought perhaps you discovered you weren't really a bear.
Sorry - this was meant to be a response to MeanJoe below.
Why the hating on WD and softball? It's been one of the most successful sports for Michigan in recent years.
WD has a contingent of people who neg him no matter what he says. There's also a contingent of people who neg and troll every Michigan sport other than football and basketball.
who have invested money, time, and many brain cells appreciate anything M. The casual fan cares only about Football, Basketball and occasionally hockey.
Most people on this board cares for the non-revenue sports; especially softball since it is the team that is most likely to win a Natty (IMO).
Thanks WD for your dedication to all things Michigan. Oh by the way, the softball team rocks.

So you're calling me a casual fan of my alma mater because I put nearly all of my energy into revenue sports?
Really?
