An All-American quarterback at Bay City and tight end for Bump Elliott...Buckeye killer.  HIs professional business career was very impressive.

Very sorry to read this.
Clayton Wilhite was such a class act. He was the leader/counselor of my freshman orientation group in the summer of 1966. And it was a thrill then to see him play that fall. I also remember that he was the "designated escort" to bring Doc Losh to the microphone to speak at a pep rally. I was so happy to be able to speak to him a few years ago at a University Musical Society concert and tell him what an impression he made on me 55 years ago. RIP, Clayt.

Like CJGRAPE I was a freshman in an orientation led by Clayton in the summer of 1966.

Clayton was indeed a class act. It became instantly clear how much he was respected by all those in the orientation that knew him.

Frankly, I am shocked at his passing. Our impression was that Clayton was nearly bulletproof, and would never die, if for no other reason that he was too full of life to die. One of those.

From the stands, I could yell out his name. He always recognized me and said hi. Just a really remarkable guy.

I will remember him always. My best to his family.

Sad to see :(

Mr Whilhite was a member of my church when I was growing up, and he hired me and another couple young college kids to help landscape around his property. Him and his wife were overly generous to us comparative to the labor, and it was because of them that I was able to help pay for my rent while attending school. Always had good humor and it was incredible to learn/see some of the folks he’d met and interacted with as a successful business man. Ann Arbor lost a great man but I know his impact will remain for a long time.
