Our Punt return vs Notre Dame's punt return
I noticed during the game that our punt return tactics are to rush as many to attempt to block the punt leaving no one back really to block for gallon. Compare this to Notre Dame and they basically send the line and as soon as the ball is snapped players are running back thus not getting passed by the kicking teams gunners and actually being able to field and possibly return a punt. I wish we would do this cause of as of right now we are tied for 125th. With 4 attempts 3 fair catches and a 7. yard avg.

don't overestimate UM's success in the "HOLD ON TO THE DAMN BALL!" category

Well said, I will take 0 returns yards on punts if it stops the turnovers. I would think once they get more confident in Gallon we will see different packages with more blocking.

While this is very true, I agree that Gallon has had zero opportunity for a decent return. This is one of the many things we need to work on during the next 2 weeks. #2 IMO is getting the RBs into the mix.

i think he had opportunities for returns. i think he may have been a little spooked from the first game and focused on securing the ball. at this point that's fine, but as the season moves on, we need dramatic improvement from our special teams, punt return included.
