OTish: Former Illini DB turned Astronaut
Former Illini DB (1988-91) and captain, Mike Hopkins, is currently aboard the International Space Station and took some time to do an interview on Sportscenter. On a personal note, when not in training/space he helps coach for the youth hockey organization down here in Houston that I help with (and our kids play in). Super nice guy, and it's awesome to see him up there representing B1G football.

isn't a place I'd like to be, what with all the space junk rocketing past all the time. There's no one coming to rescue you if you catch a rogue chunk of Russian satellite in the ear. Don't forget, Sandra Bullock's fire extinguisher only has room for one, and she DAMN sure isn't going to just hand it over to you...

If anyone wants to listen to an astronaut talk about what it's really like to be in space and share stories about being in the space station Commander Chris Hadfield was on Joe Rogan's podcast last week. A few things that I found interesting, in a weightless environment a human heart shrinks because delivering blood is easier, you eventually develop calluses on the top of your feet because you constantly use them to anchor yourself and that they have determined that two hours of hard PE everyday is required to maintain a healthy system in space. It's a fascinating interview.
