OT - Temple Grandin Sweeping Emmys (4 so far)

Submitted by joelrodz on

This is way OT but was wondering who else watched this HBO movie - Temple Grandin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Grandin - when it came out? I thought it was excellent and props to HBO for taking it on and showcasing the struggles and successes of individuals with autism. Claire Dane just won best actress for her role as Temple.

Edit: Make that 5 - for best movie made for TV

Chandler has done a pretty good job on Friday Night Lights and that show definitely surpassed my expectations and lasted longer than I thought it would, but compared to Bryan Cranston, Chandler is nothing. Breaking Bad is a great show and you probably haven't watched it much if you think Chandler should get the nod over Cranston.

Even if you look at all the other nominees, Chandler is probably last on the list. He's going up against some good ones in that category.

I have seen every episode of both FNL and BB, as well as every episode of Mad Men, and every other drama you care to throw out there. Yet I disagree with your stance on Chandler vs. Cranston.

You DO realize that we're talking about something wholly and completely subjective, right? You also realize that no one from "The Wire" ever won a single emmy for anything other than writing?

Point: it's all subjective. And certainly not "fair." And reasonable people can disagree, because, well, of course, that's the whole point of it being "subjective."

Temple Grandin was an absolutely phenomenal piece of television.

I'll also add it's really great to see You Don't Know Jack bringing home some hardware, too.  They did an incredible job of really nailing just how strange that entire episode was for those of us who were around the Detroit area.  Jack showing up with another body in the back of his van was a very real part of our lives, and the whole debate put our area on the national radar.

The moral of the story is HBO is pretty much owning great television right now.

But was shocked to see it sweep it's awards. I don't know if it was THAT good.

And what the hell kind of horrific plastic surgery has Claire Danes undergone?!?
