OT: Sepp Blatter Resigning!!!!!!!

Submitted by BornSinner on

Wow... go USA! Sponsors must've pulled the plug or the investigation is getting real.

Posbang w/e joy everywhere!

Edit:

I believe this is the smoking gun? Or at least a very big part of getting dirt on Sepp. Valcke is Sepp's right hand man.

attempting to blame the FIFA bribery scandal on wayward prosecution brought on by a revengeful prosecution to cover for failed World Cup bids by the UK and US, a mysterious bank transfer to tthe Caribbean for an area that barely supports soccer infrastructure but has well-known off-shore banking and financial rules protecting investors and their identities, forces Blatter out.

Well, that makes more sense than seeking to explain how you are propping up the soccer universe with astronomical benefits accrued from countries that can neither support the game longer than the time given to build stadia for the pleasure of a blissful world audience while the community buidling them slumps in the wake of the financial fix. Talk about an income gap.

Question is, what does this say about the last two cup awards and the bid election process?

If only the DOJ could eviscerate our own domestic financial systems this effectively. But for now, I'll take it! #USAWorldCup2022

The womens world cup is in canada and I am guessing if they didn't have enough to get him in Switzerland they would have had enough to pick him up in Canada.  Now lets see how fast he finds his way to a nonextradition country

So long as they don't replace him with Mark May we're good. Screw it, even if they replace him with Mark May, we're good. Here's to hoping we get the Cup out of Qatar.

Sorry. A bit of sarcasm on my part. Maybe too subtle for you. It's just that I've watched and watched and watched some more and I know it is the worlds most popular sport and they are amazing athletes.... but ....I ....JUST .... CAN'T.....GET....INTO.... SOCCER.

This is pervasive and endemic corruption we're talking about here. Yes it's fun to see Sepp Blatter see a bit of comeuppance but cutting off the head does not necessarily kill the body here.

Some times the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.  I think UEFA should break apart from FIFA and just hold thier own invitiational tournament instead.  Invite the champions from each confederation and then the next best 26 teams according to elo rankings or something like that.  Or tell each other confederation a number of teams to send and let them decide who goes.

FIFA needs UEFA more than UEFA needs FIFA.  If the US, china, japan, get on board with this then FIFA would be toast.

USA! USA! USA! I just can't believe it. Just a day or 2 since being reelected. Maybe he's hoping to avoid litigation, but hopefully it's too late for that. I want to see a very public, drawn out trial.
