OT - Probert's Funeral
There have been plenty of posts about his life and career, but I hadn't seen this yet... His coffin was delivered to the funeral...
On a motorcycle side car.
Always the bad-ass, he will be missed.
(Picture stolen from Freep article which says next to nothing, it's 5 lines long, but is linked for fairness's sake http://www.freep.com/article/20100710/NEWS07/7100355/1001/news/Fans-honor-Probert)
No need to be fair to the Freep. They wouldn't return the favor.
This meme is getting overplayed. Can we have one thread a day without Freep bashing?
daughter spoke at the funeral and said something along the lines of "since my dad has died heaven just got a lot more interesting..." and for those of you that didn't know stevie y gave the eulogy and kocur was a pall bearer...
Now there's a name I haven't heard in awhile.
Nobody was better at protecting his guys.
Case, and point:
Also, just, this:
The Cox fight and the fight against Marty McSorley when McSorley was with the Penguins in 1994 are my 2 favourite. Marty & Probie just teed off on each other for over a minute and a half and when they were done they gave each other a little tap on the forehead. You can see in the fight a couple of times how much they respected each other - when McSorely's jersey was coming off and when McSorley went down to a knee and Probert helped him back up. Two of the great fighters of their time and they respected each other to the end. Great memories. I sure am gald that the Wings had #24 patrolling the wings to protect Yzerman.
