... that it does not suck as much as TFA, which was merely a lame remake. Creativity is apparently in short supply in Hollywood these days.

To inject some badly-needed creativity, maybe they could get Harbaugh to direct the next installment. Mark Emmert could play the evil dude and the rebel base could be cleverly hidden in the IMG system of planets.

Cumong, man.

Even if it bore a lot of similarly to A New Hope, it certainly didn't "suck." The return to practical effects and models and interesting characters with actual depth to them, in addition to the direction, well...those things right there, I'd argue, made this film decidedly non-sucky. To each his own, of course.

But...I'm firmly convinced that JJ and Co. played it a little safe here because, well, they wanted to give the franchise a soft-reboot, of sorts. The prequels rubbed most people the wrong way, and I think they said, screw it, let's give the 35-50 year olds their Star Wars back. And hey, I was completely OK with that.

I look for the next two films in the sequel trilogy to be a little more distinctive and unique.

Back to this standalone film -- I am certainly looking forward to it. I think it'll be cool to see a SW film that has a smaller scope and a more focused story.

You are right. It didn't suck, it was HORRIBLE. An injustice to the series, they took A new Hope and just plugged in new names, literally. It's ok to be a huge fan of the first ones and to not be a fan of the new ones. It was a horrible movie, Lucas probably spent like a day and a half writing it. I saw it for free and want my 3 hours back. Don't get me started on the all of the plot holes, horribly written.

Sadly, I lowered my expectations after the 2nd installment of films were released. As long as this new trilogy is void of Jar Jar Binks and Hayden Christensen (so far, so good) I'll enjoy it.

A bad guy in a helmet; a super wonderful girl saving the world, a token minority, and a good guy who is troubled.

Space ships, bang bang, evil looking REALLY BIG bad guy, and a cliffhanger.

The shit rolls on.
