OT-ish: Why No Medical MJ Cards?

Submitted by yzerman19 on

If [a Michigan student athlete] had [a] medical MJ card, and tested positive, would they still [get] suspended?  I'l hang up and listen and will apologize in advance if this has been covered.

Mod edit: Took the names down, reframed it as a general question. I know what the internet says about the suspensions in question, but without an admission from either player or word from the staff it seems to be in better taste to offer the question as a general one. JGB.

So many comments, so few people having a clue. Docs cannot "prescribe" MMJ; they sign a patient recommendation. In MI, anxiety doesn't cut it. Yes, there are docs who will refer folks without proper medical use, but that's not the norm. Weed has a lot of medical use and almost any doc can tell you that. As to why a young athlete might need it...how about Crones. Weed relaxes intestinal muscles and reduces inflammation. C'mon, isn't this a Michigan blog? Shouldn't folks be more informed? A blog that posts "what are you drinking" threads really shouldn't be so uptight.
