OT: Girl Wins Back to Back Team Track Championships solo

This is pretty cool: http://highschool.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=953096 Bonnie Richardson, from tiny Rochelle, Texas (population 600), has accomplished what no other Texas high school track and field athlete has ever achieved: back-to-back team state championships – by herself. Richardson captured first in the long jump (17-04.50), second in the discus (126-09) and first in the high jump (5-8) on Friday for a total of 28 points. Returning to Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas on Saturday, Richardson placed third in the 200 (25.78) and fourth in the 100 (12.51) for a two-day total of 38 points – two points better than second-place Cayuga in Class A. She's committed to Texas A&M but maybe there's still time to flip her as a slot receiver ;)

Wow thats pretty cool. Although, it doesn't seem that fair to me. I know she doesn't have anyone else on her team, but one person should not be able to win a "team" championship.

If she's good enough as an all-around athlete, why shouldn't she be allowed to take her "team" to the title? It's really not that much different than someone like LeBron single-handedly taking his team to a basketball title in high school.

Tyrone Wheatley did that his senior year in Michigan for Dearborn Heights Robichaud. If I recall correctly, he took first in all four events in which he competed: 100m, 200m, 110hh, and long jump.

The story of how she won a team meet all by herself - setting multiple world records in the process - is quite amazing.
