I'm excited for the MLS All-Stars vs Manchester U coming on later tonight. Had I been able to get off work earlier, I'd so have driven the 4 hours. Hopefully they have a good showing at the Silverdome. I doubt it would help with Michigan's chance of hosting a World Cup, but hey, it still wouldn't help their chance of hosting.

Isn't that the equivalent of having the Japanese baseball all stars play the Yankees? Or the South American basketball all stars play the Lakers? We're talking about a grouping of our best pro soccer players playing arguably the best team in Europe who always play with one another. Team chemistry, especially in a game like soccer goes a long way. That is not a fair matchup, but I guess if it makes soccer more popular in the US then it is for the greater good.

Yeah, I'm not expecting great results for the MLS, but it should be interesting.

EDIT: On top of that, the Hispanic population in Houston REALLY loves them some great soccer. They always show up well for things like this. The email I got from the Texans promoting this had it sold out really quick. Should be one of the biggest soccer crowds the US has seen in a few years.

Plus Man U just signed a Mexican forward who's likely getting his debut tonight. The match will certainly sell out.

Grant Wahl mentions in his si column today that the guy who owns the Silverdome is angling for an MLS franchise. Not likely, but he seems to be trying to make the Dome a soccer facility.

The game should be fun. I'm looking forward to it and their is a possibility I'll be able to meet some of the players, so that'd be nice.

As for the vuvuzela's, they are letting people vote on if they should be allowed at the game or not. You can vote at www.SilverdomeEvents.com.
