OT: Big 10 network captioning?

Submitted by TheIcon34 on
Hello, Since I am deaf and recently switched to AT&T for the Big 10 channel, I am starting to regret the move. Aside from the Big 10 media day, I have not seen anything captioned on this channel. Will football games and other games be captioned? I guess if the games are not captioned, I will send an email to the Big 10 TV folks. Let me know what is usually captioned on this channel, if you can offer any insight.

I dated a girl who was deaf a decade or so ago and have been pleasantly surprised at how many more programs are captioned nowaday than were back then. So to hear that BTN doesn't caption regularly is disconcerting. Is it that they just don't caption anything in general or was it just the BTN preview show? Because it's somewhat less surprising that they didn't caption the preview show, since they clearly filmed it this morning. Aren't most college football games captioned? I know when I watch them on ESPN or ABC they tend to be. I might consider sending an email to BTN now regardless, just to be sure.

The TV Guide listings show the little (CC) next to the Big Ten Network, but I don't know how to check on my TV, we lost the tv remote many many months ago and only have the cable box remote. With my experience operating TVs in Bars, sometimes the Captions won't work correctly on the HD Channel, so maybe check on the regular version of BTN.

I was visiting a friend tonight before she heads off to college tomorrow morning. Me and another guy who was there turned on BTN to watch the practice and it was captioned. She can't make the captions turn off her TV, so I KNOW that BTN gets captioning.

I noticed I didn't get captioning with my Comcast cable. Might have someting to do with my Samsung LCD, since we have had issues with some other channels.
