New in-state offer: 2022 LB Michael Williams II

Michigan offered West Bloomfield freshman linebacker Michael Williams II. He's another member of the 2022 class, so Michigan is getting after these rising sophomores. Williams is a 6'2", 215-pounder, and he's already built like a junior or senior in high school.

Michigan has offered several guys at West Bloomfield, including 2020 LB Cornell Wheeler (committed), 2020 S Makari Paige, and 2021 RB Donovan Edwards.

Here's a link to Williams's highlights (LINK).

Magnus, why hasn't Michigan pushed for Enzo Jennings? Or have they pushed for him and the interest has not been reciprocated? He and Paige would be great to add to the DB backfield.

I don't know that they've pushed for him, but I don't think the interest has been greatly reciprocated. Some kids just want to go out of state, and I think Jennings is potentially one of those guys. He's never seemed to be particularly interested in sticking close to home.

It's too bad, because I like how Jennings plays. He's very physical. I think he could be a Brandon Watson-like corner (but faster).

It's really hard to say right now, based on his 9th grade film. I'm not sure what he'll look like in three years, whether he'll be a TE, a DE, a LB, etc.

As of right now, it looks to me like he's going to outgrow that LB position, at least the way Don Brown likes his linebackers. My guess is that he'll end up being a defensive end of some sort.

That being said...there aren't many freshmen who are 6'2", 215 lbs. who are put together like him.

Based on the bits I saw on the highlights he is good at coming unblocked on run defense. Also he is larger than the others he is playing against. There was a hilarious play where a small edge defender tries to set the edge and he just lays him on his ass with a simple shoulder to his chest.
