NCAA Hockey Tournament Pick'em via USCHO

Submitted by gwkrlghl on

I know all of our basketball tournament brackets are incinerated so here's your 2nd chance. USCHO hosts a pick'em every year for some modest prizes, but the fun is in the bracket. You think picking basketball is hard? I've had years where my coin flip bracket did better than my actual one for the hockey tournament.

In case you're wondering how to pick, BCInterruption has had a few good posts on trends for teams and past tournaments:

I've got Tech, Providence, Minnesota, and Minnesota-Mankato in the Frozen Four with Mankato winning it all. The tournament starts Friday.

Minnesota is losing to Duluth in the first round.

Quinnipiac will beat North Dakota and make the Frozen Four.

BU over Minnesota State in the final.

but Duluth has been ho-hum down the stretch while Minnesota has pieced together a few good games.

And I know North Dakota always falls short in the tournament, but I'd be shocked if Quinnipiac could knock off North Dakota in North Dakota without an incredible Tiny Jesus-type performance. Would be a massive upset. Check out BCI's discussion on win percentages. Your odds of a 1-seed winning in state are really high and your odds of winning while travelling long distances are relativley low. I'd bet Quinnipiac's odds of winning are <10%

Well, I'll be cheering for my RIT Tigers. The last time they made the NCAA tournament (2010) as the lowest-seeded team they made the Frozen Four.

It'd be great to see them pull of another upset or two this year. Senior forward Matt Garbowsky is a Hobey Baker finalist and is having a great year.

The Tigers are playing their best hockey of the season so it should at least be entertaining.
