MVP DeShawn Sims or Manny Harris

Submitted by the_white_tiger on
Who's more valuable, Sims or Harris? That is not to say who is more talented or more outstanding, because Manny leads DeShawn in most categories. Which one is better for the team/who is needed more? I'd have to say Sims, he's the only offensive option inside other than Gibson (cough). Plus he's the only inside defender. Agree, disagree?

I know that you're being facetious, but when CJ plays well, facilitates the offense, and plays quality defense, this team is so much more effective. Obviously, my appraisal of Lee is very qualitative, but, nonetheless, he is a reason why this team has looked so much better as of late.

Without Manny, teams could collapse on Sims on the inside and hope the outside shooters go cold, which has happened more than we'd like this year. Without Sims, Manny could still pretty much do his thing - teams would still have to expend effort guarding whichever wide-bodied non-Sims stiff we had in the post.

Sims is the MVP. He's carried the team at times. Harris has been consistently good (for the most part), but he hasn't put the team on his back like Sims has.

I agree with you Magnus. I really do think that Manny is the most talented, but he doesn't want the ball when the game is on the line. Sims always wants the ball.

While I agree that Sims wants it in the clutch, I'd hardly say that Manny "doesn't want the ball." In many, many late-game situations he's been the one to put it up. Remember his huge three against Minnesota, his drives at the end of the Iowa road game (which didn't convert, mainly because they fouled the crap out of him), and his several clutch free throws that forced overtime against Savannah State.

Sims. He comes up big in all the big games. Also we would be completely screwed w/o him, imagine a front line of Gibson and Novak, with Wright and Shepherd as backups? We would be even more severely undersized.

Manny is the MVP - he contributes the most of any player on the team. He either leads the team or is second in almost every statistical category. But Sims is the guy we can least afford to lose, because we just don't have much size, and basically no post scoring other than him.
