Back in the 70's I was a 49er fan, and thought that he had turned the team around (went 8-6 in 1976 but was fired after his only season). But new ownership and new GM wanted a new direction. They got it; under awful GM Joe Thomas, the 49ers then went through their worse stretch in team history. Ken Meyer went 5-9 in 1977 (fired) then 2 coaches combined to go 2-14 in 1978. Joe Thomas was the worst. I'll never forget the commercial that Clark did after he was fired. It was for BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport) where he plugs it and then states that unlike him, BART even works on Sundays. I always thought, had he been a little given a better chance, he could have had a good career. RIP.
