Michigan Sports memorabilia auction to benefit a scholarship for M sports managers
Just wanted to put the word out about an online auction LOADED with autographed Michigan sports memorabilia to benefit a new scholarship for undergrads who work as volunteer managers or athletic trainers for Michigan varsity sports teams.

Most of the big names in the Michigan pantheon have signed items including A.C., Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, Dan Dierdorf, Denard Robinson etc. Almost all of the seniors who went in the draft are there too. Many multisigned items as well.
There are also items that are "Buy Now" items where you won't have to bid including items autographed by Desmond Howard, Jake Rudock, Red Berenson and Graham Glasgow. The link to the BUY NOW section is here:

Again, the University is running this auction so all bids over the amount of the unsigned item count as tax deductible gifts to the University and you'll get a gift letter.
Good cause, good memorabilia and you get a tax write off. The holidays are coming right around the corner so here's a chance to get some stuff for the Michigan fan in your life (or just for yourself).

1. If you haven't noticed their ad has been running on the left side of our site for a week.
2. The guy who runs this is Noel Cimmino, who worked for Bruce Madej back in the day. If you ever run into him, ask him about the time Ty Wheatley Sr. and co decided to go out for track.

Bunch of former managers went to Noel because he has experience doing these auctions. He's sort of led the group through the forest.

BTW....everyone has their own opinion on the coolest item in the auction. Certainly willing to hear everyone's opinion. That said, can't figure out how this team signed poster from M Basketball team that went to the NCAA Finals hasn't received a bid.

If someone with more computer skills than me can embed a pic I'd appreciate.

There's really no reason to bid this early, it will only drive the price up.

I would agree with the game theory but this isn't ebay....its a charity auction.

It's a great idea - the execution seems a bit off though. First, why is everything 'priceless'? There's a pretty clear value of a football autographed by Charles Woodson that can be determined by going to eBay. And speaking of 'priceless' opportunities, if they really wanted to raise some serious money, they should have things like sideline passes, lunch with Harbaugh, Drevno, or Pep, etc., opportunity to attend a film session or something that you can't just buy on eBay. I think very few people under the age of 40 are interested in autographed items and either way they have a very quantifiable value. I think Experiences have a much wider draw and for a group of bidders that has some people with serious income, they would spend a lot more for them.

One thing people don't realize about the internal workings of the University is that its not one big happy family, particularly when it comes to fundraising. Its more like the United States where each state really does its own thing and doesn't usually have reason to help each other and then you have the federal government which deals with big picture issues and keeping the peace.
This auction is not coming from the athletic department, its from the academic side. Accordingly, we're not going to get the kind of cooperation needed to give away the things you mentioned.
