Michigan pro day today
All 32 teams have reps there to watch as well as some HCs like Mike Tomlin and Lovie Smith.
First update from Michigan football twitter - Aidan Hutchinson with 28 on the bench press:

Michigan LB David OJabo, an expected first-round pick next month, just got hurt at Michigan’s pro day and limped off the field with the help of trainers, per source.

Why is his spotter on the weights like that?

Thought that was bizarre too. Seems like the spotter could have started hovering around the 20th rep with no issues.

when a spotter has their palms essentially facing each other but at opposite ends of the bar (in the video), it keeps the bar from slipping either forward or backwards in the event the lifter fails to complete the rep. This is the correct technique.
Palms out could lead to the bar dropping onto the lifter's chest or face if palms are facing inwards.
I understand why the spotter was there. I just didn't think it was necessary for him to hover over the bar for the first 20 reps or so.
I suppose it could be a psychological thing, like maybe Aidan feels more confident with someone right there - but when I'm benching I don't want the spotter over the bar until I start to struggle.

Uhhhhh nobody says that lol.
How about the strength coaches actually teach Hutch how to bench. For one, it's basically a cg which is terrible for his numbers because of his long arms. Teo, how about some leg drive, three how about actually teaching to retract his scapula so that you can decrease injury chance.

That's awesome, but what amazes me is that Hassan Haskins did only one less rep than Hutch.
Hutch's arms have to be quite a bit longer. Has to play into it for sure.
Stocky guys with short arms have a mechanical advantage over tall leaner guys.
I don't understand why Brad was not invited to the NFL combine. His numbers are good.
Ross after already proving to be the least athletic linebacker at the combine, proved it again at Michigan's pro day...
