Luddite Gaming

I was going to post this as OT in another thread, but figured I might as well start my own topic. I need a recommendation. I'm one of those odd people who is ok with being a step (or three) behind on gaming technology as I simply don't play that much anymore. For this reason I still have a PS2 and the last football game I bought was Madden 2004. I haven't had my PS2 hooked up in months, but lately I've had a bit of an itch for playing some football. I often get this itch late at night during the baseball season when there are no good games on ESPN Classic. Assuming many of you are more committed game players than I and have sampled most of the games out there, what's the best EA football game to pick up for the PS2 from 2005 until whenever they stopped making new games for PS2 (2008?)? I'm interested in either NCAA or Madden and my main criteria is game play/AI. I know some years have annoying glitches etc. I liked Madden 2004, so something with similar gameplay and a few updates would be great. Of course the greatest game ever was EA's Bill Walsh College Football 1993 for Sega Genesis, but that's another story.... Thanks...

The greatest game ever was Super Techmo Bowl for the NES. This is objective fact. (Also, I still have a PS2, and will probably buy the new NCAA10 version of it unless I decide to upgrade to a PS3. I have NCAA09 for the PS2, but it's pretty buggy. Much worse than the prior two years.)

Tecmo Bowl and/or Tecmo Super Bowl are oftent cited, but I loved Walsh '93. It's good to hear that they are still making PS2 games for us late adopters. Between NCAA 08 and 09, which is better? How do they compare with Madden 08 or 09?
