Thought for sure he was headed to Maryland or PSU.

It was a surprise for Maryland, not for Penn State. I knew for awhile he wasn't choosing Penn State, it was too much back and forth. But, I thought after all the garbage he would stay home. So, yea it's a little surprising, but Bo Pelini is in Nebraska now, so he's got a pretty good argument as well.

Penn State had backed off a while ago. He tried to commit to them twice, but they balked on him. Up until a few days ago, it looked like he was joining Hawkins at Maryland, but then Nebraska took the lead and secured his verbal.
