Warde Manual should be fired for allowing athletes to return from England with the chance of bringing back their strain of the virus. If you are going to let them return put them in a bubble for two weeks. Because he screwed up all the other sport shave to suffer because now he is over reacting to his screw up.

Yeah I don’t understand allowing the athlete to not only go back home out of the country but allow them back around teams.

Some of Covid protocols can be confusing but so many are not. It’s pretty obvious you don’t want someone back with your teams from the country that has a new variant outbreak.

When an athlete gets a scholarship it’s not a contract of indentured servitude.  Whatever the wisdom or lack thereof in going to England and coming back without some further testing, the bottom line is there was nothing the university could really do to prevent it. They could’ve been proactive and held her out for contacts, but they could not prevent the travel.

Exactly! This is hilarious. How can you think they can’t tell the player they aren’t allowed in the facilities until a Quaratine is over? It’s only been done all Over the country for almost a year!

Clearly the AD and everyone else at UM screwed up, but they’re not in a position to prevent anyone from traveling or refusing to let them return - they have no authority to do either. That being said, they should’ve been checking in with the kid and making sure she quarantined and didn’t put anyone else at risk.

I’m still shocked someone could be so selfish and careless to return from England and just go about life as usual without thinking of anyone else. That kid should be absolutely ashamed of her selfishness and stupidity.

Unless I've missed something, the AD never indicated that the kid who went to England interacted with any of the basketball players. If everyone on the team is fine on Feb 14 and the new covid variant is around, then there is zero difference between now and when they started the pause a few weeks ago.

I will say, I find it hilarious that a certain crowd loves to break out the "they're just in charge because they're in charge" line of criticism when it suits them, and willingly fall in line on a decision like this that obviously contradicts itself...because reasons.

The whole thing has been handled extremely poorly, bottom line.

We have so many strong programs doing so well and totally derailed them because of some incompetence somewhere along the line.

Good.  Dont want to shame anyone - but please explain why some Michigan student/athlete was allowed to travel from England and come back without being quarantined.  Fucked up the whole sports program...

Now that I got that out of my system - truly believe Howard and our many Senior leaders will have us ready for Wisconsin!

I would be surprised if they did not at least find somewhere to get their shots in.  Just being a shitty high school guard I could not imagine taking two weeks off in the middle of the season with zero basketball.  When we took 3 or 4 days off for Christmas we would look like trash the first few practices back.

I sure hope that this doesn't derail a team that seemed to be on a run towards the Final Four. The key for Coach Howard will be prepping this team for the tournament. I think a tournament berth is guaranteed with the remaining schedule, so get the rotation set, rebuild the continuity, and get them ready for March!
