I just stumbled across a good article on the women's lacrosse team. Here's the link to the Inside Lacrosse article.

Two paragraphs of note:

Nielsen has fit right in at Michigan, where the athletics department has the same MO. Football went to the Peach Bowl this year, and men’s basketball nabbed a two-seed in the NCAA Tournament. Olympic sports are prevalent too — softball placed fifth and second, respectively, in the ’15 and ’16 Women’s College World Series, and field hockey went to the Final Four in ‘17The desire for success is contagious.

Nielsen, and assistants Ana Heneberry and Adam Sear, act as teachers each day, working with players on the fundamentals of lacrosse. They practice and watch film to master riding, clearing, stick work and beating or defending someone 1 v. 1. Nielsen said every day after a game, she and her assistants are inundated with texts from players asking when they can come in for individual workouts, a key part of her strategy to building a program. In full team practices, the offense and defense compete with one another. The coaches don’t just let the athletes play. School is always in session.

Good to see an emphasis on teaching the game just like Beilein has done well with the basketball team.

The #9 Wolverines are coming off a win over Ohio State last night and are 10-0 (2-0 B1G). They will face Niagara on Monday before welcoming the #17 Johns Hopkins Bluejays in a conference game next Saturday.
