How big is the 2019 class going to be?
we have 16 right now
crystal balled to us recently or we hold a big lead for
Quinten Johnson
David Ojabo
Trevor Keegan
William Harrod
Eric Gray
Aeneas DiCosmo
that puts us at 22 and obviously the staff has more going on than what is public
and Mike Sainristil was just CB'd to flip to us from V-Tech
I have nothing valuable to add and don't follow recruiting much these days but Aeneas DiCosmo is a fantastic name.
he has offers to Michigan, Standford and Notre Dame as well - solid kid
Nice, well in that case we certainly can't stan to lose him.
Don't call him Stan, he doesn't like it.
He's also a fantastic player...just FYI :)
Just like Malik McDowell
Wth, I posted this comment in a different thread.
This message board function is a mess.
Sam Webb had a great interview with Aeneas' dad (last thursday I think) on WTKA. One of the best interviews he's done. He started out visiting the Ivies, then Stanford and ND. He wants to continue his study of Mandarin, business and JH was setting up a visit with the dean of SMTD (theatre) for him. Dad played pro ball but seemed about as cool as you could get.
In ancient Greek, it translates as "The Cosmic Anus".
Impressive .
I've read that we're only taking one more OT.
Then there is likely to be some attrition in the class as well.
That's interesting about Sainristil, the CB'd CB.
But, if we have a good year, I mean, when we have a good year, way better than expected, we could very well end the recruiting year like we did in 2016. Part of me wants the staff to slow down now and leave more room for this year's versions of David Long and Lavert Hill next January.
Sainristil is from Lewis Cine's old high school, that offer is just to get him a roommate he knows before he commits.
I just saw that too in Isaiah Hole's article on Lewis Cine. Interesting that they are recruiting Cine for the Viper spot. Didn't know that. Also, DiCosmo for SAM and not WDE.
If you watch his tape he is a lot more than an offer to get Cine, kid is really good!
Excellent, I'll be rooting for him no matter how he gets to AA.
But it would be nice if his buddy Lewis was around too.
Expect between 20-24 commits for the 2019 class
I'd be surprised if the class finished below 23. I'm expecting 23-26. There will be plenty of attrition this coming offseason between early entrants, transfers, and firm handshakes.
Agree. Don't forget UM is still recruiting Daxton Hill, Lewis Cine, Quavaris Coruch, Zach Harrison, George Karlaftis, Kyle Ford, and Isaiah Foskey among others. UM is recruiting like they have 26, 27, 28 spots left.
Also keep in mind some current commits could loo elsewhere. Herron has obviously been flirting with Stanford. Jack Stewart has been following some SEC coaches and writers as of late. Velazquez is on record saying if he's a high draft pick he's going that route.
I'm interested to see how it all shakes out because if UM has a big season watching them try to finagle these numbers is going to be something. They are already 3 over the scholarship limit as is with just the 16 commits.
Welcome to the dark side.
Harrod is out as far as I know. I don’t subscribe to the pay sites but the rumblings I have seen seem to indicate that he is moving down Michigan’s (and others) offer boards.
otherwise, I think the list you have is OK - I think Gray might be interchangeable with Wandale Robinson and that would be 21.
I think that is technically the MAX of reliable scholarships for next year. I could see M try to stretch 2 or 3 more to accommodate any of Harrison, Cine, Daxton Hill, Crouch, or that top 100 receiver out of Cali.
A recent recruiting podcast (maybe about 1 month back) from Rivals with “Dotman” went through overall numbers but iirc to just to get to 21 we need 2-3 non renewed 5th years (next year), 2-3 early exits/transfers, and 2-3 early NFL entries - over and above Gary.
Wow, you're right. 14 CB's to UM & they want Keegan instead.
He is right!
Given how recruiting usually works, there is always going to be possible attrition to come if an opportunitity presents itself. If a top 30 player wants to commit and we are without room, the 'ole "look around" approach could be given, and If that isn't the case, firm handshakes will be given to struggling players or ones who would benefit more playing elsewhere would happen. The staff wouldn't pass up on someone of that nature just cause they are afraid of hurting feelings. There are a couple of players I could see leaving if we have a great season. Also, harrod is someone I might take off the board, with keegan being the top. target and him struggling in camps, it doesn't seem like it's gonna work out.
Yuge.
We need swim lanes and an updated depth chart by class (Otis Reese is on it).
I'd guess 23-25ish with another OT, DE, LB, 1-2 DBs, and 1-2 WRs and spots held for Crouch (who could be the LB), Karlaftis and Gray regardless of other commits.
Think we can expect at least three early NFL departures. Five or so grad/attrition transfers would be pretty normal for a Harbaugh offseason.
How big? Big.. let's just go with big.
That's what she said.
Size doesn't matter.....
yeah, I couldn't type that with a straight face....
