Former WBB Cyesha Goree gets her WNBA shot

Cy Goree was stapled to the bench for two years here, but she stuck it out and kept working...given her shot, she broke the program rebounding record as a junior, then broke it in 2015 as a senior.  She's as good a rebounder as we've had, and I include Naz and Emily Kiser in that conversation.

Coming out of college, the WNBA showed little or no interest, so she went overseas, playing in Poland, Italy, Spain, and finally Hungary, where she eventually achieved Hungarian citizenship and has played for the national team.  She helped lead that team to the Eurobasket semis a few weeks, back, their best finish since 1997.

Now the WNBA has come calling.

She joins Naz and Leigha Brown as the third WBB alum in the Lig.  This program continues to rise.

From the interwebs:

It's a temporary roster spot that must be granted by the league. It allows a team to exceed the 15-man maximum roster when it has at least four players who are sick or injured for longer than two weeks. Each of the four sick or injured players must miss at least three consecutive games during their two-week absence.

I hope she sticks with the team.  I remember watching her play at Crisler.  She was fun to watch and her name is fun to say.

Would she be the first Hungarian in the WNBA?
