And the hits just keep onnnnnn coming...

As previously reported on this blog two years ago (https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/usa-diving-accused-ignoring-aleged-sexual-abuse-divers), former osu diving coach William Bohoyni was accused and sentenced for sexual battery and multiple sexual encounters with his then 16-yr old victim.

He was sentenced today to four years in prison for his crimes, as well as having to register as a sex offender every 90 days for the rest of his life.

good.  people like him should be human test subjects for military weapons etc.

should immediately ask for protective custody or he may not make it 4 years in there.  prisoners don't like child sex abusers

It appears OSU did the correct thing here. This guy's professional life is over. I hope he gets the help he needs and becomes a productive citizen. Prayers for those impacted by his bad decisions.

Of course, outside of a few states in the US and countries in the West, pharmacological means are used to reduce the libido of pedophiles, but that's all it does, in concert with cognitive therapy. There is certainly no "cure" in the sense that the preference is erased.

All the same, fuck this coach.

It's going to be an eventful year for OSU in terms of sex abuse scandals.  You may have heard of the late Jeffery Epstein because of... things.  One of his earliest mentors and patrons is Les Wexner, who is/was the CEO of retail brands like The Limited, Victoria's Secret, and Abercrombie & Fitch. If you've lived here for any amount of time, you know that Wexner is low-key THE most influential and powerful person in Columbus.  Several university buildings and charitable funds bear his name and the university is investigating two donations Epstein made.

In this case, at least, there's almost certainly no wrongdoing on the university's part.  Even though he's denied any wrongdoing, there's still a cloud over Wexner's head because of his longstanding business association with Epstein.  It's very possible that there is more smoke than fire in this case, but there's certainly a hell of a lot of smoke.

(I realize I've probably cut my own throat here, but if this could not devolve into another toxic politics thread, that'd be nice)

If his name is on several university buildings and charitable funds how is that "low-key"?

I live in the suburb Wexner built.  What he has done for the town, schools the city of Columbus and OSU is extraordinary.  His philanthropic efforts have resulted in soo many good things . If his guards prevented Epstein’s young girl from leaving his estate at Epstein’s request as she alleged, send him to prison for life, that erases any prior good deeds.   The curious financial transactions are another matter, but if he was complicit in the abuse of a child in ANY way, he needs to be put away.  It will never happen tho, even if it should.

Haven't deep dove into the finer details of all this because I prefer not throwing up in my mouth, but... if I had to guess, the truth is somewhere in the middle.  I assume that neither Epstein or Wexner are complete idiots.  Epstein was smart enough to keep the full extent of his sex crimes on the down-low as much as possible. Wexner is smart enough to have noticed that nubile girls tended to congregate around Epstein.  Even if he was not directly complicit in Epstein's crimes (and I'll not render judgment on that), his role as CEO of a, ahem, lingerie company, and his longstanding association with Epstein makes it *exceedingly* likely that there are any number of revelations that, if not criminal, are at least prima facie embarassing to Wexner who, as is often the case for super powerful people, greatly treasures his privacy.

He gets four years, so he will get out in 1.5 years or so?  Meanwhile the victim will carry those scars for life.   At first read I thought it said 40 years.....surprised but not shocked when it said 4.
