Not sure how I feel about this one. I think that NW is on its way up, but that the close score still has more to do with their inability to execute, and general weird sloppiness, than with EMU's sudden decency. All due respect to English, but EMU was really only hitting one dude (Jacory Stone) on anything other than screen passes, and even the one or two longer plays he was able to make seemed to be due to bad angles or recognition than to anything else. What's alarming is how effective the 3-7yd pass, or the outside run became as Northwestern went further into its 4th quarter funk. They were losing contain all over the place, and just playing out of position. After last week against Notre Dame, GERG is going to have to break it down and build it back up. I want to see the same ants-on-sugar performance we had against Western. I'd also like to see a running back wrapped up within 2-4 yds of the line of scrimmage, not permitted 7 yards a carry. CONCLUSION: This remains a non-trap game; Northwestern's close call has more to do with an untimely interception and lax defense than a heretofore undiscovered EMU strength.

Agree with Seth. The score was more indicative of sloppy play by NU than an impressive performance by EMU. NU was up 21-0 at one point. In the 3rd, ahead by two touchdowns and about to get excellent field position after a punt, the refs made an absolutely terrible call and said EMU recovered a fumbled punt when, in reality, it should have been an obvious penalty against EMU for obstructing the receiver. NU self-destructed after that point and was only able to pull it together at the end for the game winner.
