Did we pursue Earnest Thomas?
To Brian, Other Brian, TomVH, and everyone else in the know. How come we didn't offer Earnest Thomas out of Orchard Lake St. Marys? He's a 4* safety and RR has said that the secondary is critical for this class. Just wondering cause I know that there usually many reasons that the typical fan never knows about when it comes to recruiting but he's right in our backyard so, what's up?
I agree with leaving a 4* behind on this one....A lot of my friends played on St. Mary's football team and said that he really is not that great of a player..... Maybe RR saw what they did from being so close?
This nails it. He's a workout warrior with good measurables, but he doesn't have a true position, and doesn't stand out during actual games.
I'd say Ishmael Thomas is much more likely to earn an offer during the season than Earnest is, in my opinion.
that they wanted to see him at camp but he committed before then so he didn't show. I believe there were concerns over what his ultimate position would actually be S or OLB.
I think Thomas would be a candidate for the Spinner position, but we don't really seem to be recruiting for that position in 2010. We got three guys in the class of 2009 (Bell, Hawthorne, Jones) who could play there, and I suppose Robinson could play that position as well if it works out that way (even though I think he should be a safety). There's really no need to add depth there, in my opinion.
