After a couple stints in the NBA and G League, time in a couple European leagues and winning and Australian championship (including finals MVP), Walton is headed to China to play.

Basketball has allowed Derek to get a degree from the GOAT university, receive multiple rich contracts, and to live in Lithuania, Germany, France, Australia, and now China. His Chinese team is getting a consummate professional and a champion player.

We will always have the B1G tourney weekend in DC. He was ON FIRE! Best UM basketball experience of my life. That team was one of my all-time favorites

Hangzhou is a really nice city, famous for its natural features and scenic places (city lakes, parks) that were protected from the rash of new development in the aughts and 20 teens - at least last time I was there a decade ago. Good luck Derrick, enjoy the food!

I stayed in Hangzhou for a night when I lived in Shanghai about ten years ago. Very cool city, as was Suzhou. Kind of like the “Venice of China.”
And like you said, fantastic food! Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten was while I lived in China.

So, it's a complicated system, but having played parts of 3 different seasons in the NBA appears to qualify him for some sort of pension down the road.
