Denard Robinson Emerging as a Solid QB?

Submitted by wildbackdunesman on
Denard Robinson keeps getting singled out for big plays on the "letters from camp" section of the official team website. I know that for every big play posted could be several mistakes omitted. However, this seems to be a really positive sign for competition and multiple decent QBs, even if he doesn't win the QB job by season's end. This freshman QB should continue to grow. http://mgoblue.com/football/article.aspx?id=182882

Well I don't know if he will take the starting job or not. I don't know what QB is moving the chains the best in practice. However, it is exciting to have another QB capable of big plays. No offense to Sheridan who is a great team player and seems like a good kid, but last year the QB situation felt like the starter should be "who isn't as bad." It is just good to have something to hope for and look at it more positively.

Oh, I'm definitely over-stating it - I'm by no means positive Denard becomes the starter. I sort of root for him to be the starter, merely because I think he'd be more fun to watch. But, that's a minor quibble. Also, just watching the practice clips, Denard seems like he has an extremely strong arm - the tools are there.

Agreed. It'd be nice to have Griffin, Pryor and Robinson become the new holy trinity of qb's much like Tebow, McCoy and Bradford are now. Except they run and circumsize children at SUPERSONIC SPEEDZ!!!!111

Even if he doesn't develop into a number 1 QB it's definitely a huge positive if he can become at least a reasonable throwing threat. If and when he does take snaps during game time it would be nice for there to be some doubt in the Defense's mind about whether he is likely to throw or pass. If defense's have no fear of him passing there's only so much he can do with his wheels as a QB.
