Defensive Captains ?

Submitted by bluesouth on
I read a rivals article/interview of Brandon Herron and he had this to say about the following players, "I'm leaning on Brandon Graham and Obi Ezeh quite a bit, the defensive captains, and also Stevie. I just look up to those guys because of what they have put through the program and just to watch them is inspiration". I thought RR selected the captains game by game and then at the end of the year chose the captain for that season like an end of season honor. Or does this statement reflect that the season ending captain will be next years captain? Any insight on this topic would be greatly appreciated. no link the article is taken down now.

The actual "captains" wont be announced til the very last game. RR belives in a whole team captain or something. Last yr I believe the captains were the d-line??

If I remember correctly (since this did change last year), we have honorary captains (alumuni) for each game and elected captains selected by and from the team. HOWEVER, Rodriguez (and several other media sources) mentioned a 'parallel' program of senior leadership. RR selects a group of players called the 'Apostles' that are responsible for locker room leadership. I'm assuming that Ezeh and Graham are part of that Apostle program, and not part of some shadowy defensive captain arrangement.

The Apostles, now I remember he had to break that one down for folks last year. As I remember there were a few that did not get that using the name Apostles. Another change in the program.
