We keep hearing the narrative that OSU has the best (most talented) starting lineup in America, but is it necessarily true?

Some people need to stop getting ahead of themselves. I know it's great when OSU loses because it rarely happens and we hate them more than any team, but they are still loaded with talented players. UM and OSU have lots of talented players (although UM is a bit younger experience-wise) and elite coaching staffs. It's still early and there is plenty of time for both teams to improve.

I like the comparison and the thoughts it creates. Why delete? Anyway, it is interesting that we are becoming on par with OSU on talent. Let us get the play on the field be on par this year. It seems like recruiting rankings don't matter for OL or they are way off.

Love to see we are competing in the stars and I don't mind the formatting.... just want to beat them.  One time in how many ever years sucks and I really don't want HARBAUGH to be the 2nd coach to go 0-3 to start.

F@#! that spot and I think we see a different QB from them in late November.

The meltdown is annoying but comes with the territory. OSU fans remain hilariously (justifiably?) entitled, so the dramatics are par for the course whenever they don't cover, let alone get BTFO at home.

To your question, I think the fix is shockingly simple. GIVE THE BALL TO YOUR RUNNING BACK(S) AND LET THEM RUN BETWEEN THE TACKLES. THREE YARDS AND A CLOUD OF DUST.

No one stopped OSU's offense from 2012-2014, they win a national championship with it, and then for reasons that remain unclear, we decided to emphasize short passing concepts and turn into some bastardized west coast offense. I don't understand.

It's really easy to pass the ball when everyone on defense is petrified of inside gives. Run the ball relentlessly and then throw deep after. We don't do that anymore. We used to do that.

Every time Meyer says "we have to fix the passing game" I cringe, because he should be saying we have to fix the offense. The "passing game" is not an independent entity separate from the running game or the rest of the offense. They're all connected and all should be addressed together. Stop asking JT to throw WRs open. Stop asking converted high school RBs like Paris Campbell to beat DBs one-on-one. Scheme them open because the safety is trying to creep up to stop another 7 yard run on first down.

Until they recognize that, they will continue to suck. We don't have to fix the passing game. We have to fix the offense. What do we want to be? What's our identity?

Hand the ball off and watch wide receivers run free all second half. Pop in a tape from 2012 or 2013 or 2014 to remember that feeling because it's wild. Then they'll be fine. This all starts at the top, FWIW.

i would say too that it might be that like MSU's 'quarters' defense that was effective for a while, but now the pack has caught on so not so much.  so too the power spread attack of OSU might be effective, but people have figured out how to deal with it so some of that schematic advantage has been lost.  i do think you guys would be effective with running manball, but at some point you have to throw.  credit where it's due, meyer is an elite coach and i think hiring the IU guy was way smart too.  rivalry aside, i think it will be interesting to see how they react.

Harbaugh and staff (5*) Meyer and staff (4*) Michigan's recruits fit into more complex schemes. Top to bottom, I believe they'll be better football players after experience because Harbaugh and staff doesn't just go after size and athletic ability but also for players that he feels can adapt to complex professional schemes. OSU keeps things much more dumbed down. Much is made of one on one ability and pure talent and while it certainly matters, I don't think enough weight is given to versatility and IQ. Fact that Michigan has such a young defense that are able to execute all those looks and make very few mistakes is an attribute to the coaching staff and the types of players they target. If QB play is even, Michigan beats OSU this year.
