Clayton Richard

Clayton Richard has come in for the White Sox in relief, and although he gave up an RBI single to the first batter he faced (unearned, mind you), he struck out the next 5(!!!) batters in a row, 2 of them were to close out the 5th and the next three in the 6th.  5 K's in a game for a starter is solid, and he's done it in 1 2/3 innings of work against a hard hitting Tamba Bay team.  Go Blue!  Way to represent!

He's been passable this year, which is more than most Sox fans ever hoped for.  He's a LHP with a low 90's fastball so he'll have a place in the league as a long reliever/5th starter type for quite a while assuming he doesn't get injured and/or lose velocity.

They pulled him.  He pitched 3 and a third shutout innings, 5 K's and 2 BB's, 3 hits.  He got into a jam and they pulled him, but he didn't have any earned runs.  Pretty solid for your first taste of postseason baseball.
