Steelers also signed Eric Ebron to back up Gentry.
Did Gentry play at all? His stat sheet says one catch for 4 yards.
Vance McDonald ate up all the TE targets this year, and with the QB position alternating between Duck Hodges and Mason Rudolph, catchable passes were not plentiful for anyone.
Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt are pro bowl level 3-4 ends so not much chance of cracking the starting lineup, but a good place to get some development and extend his time in the league out a bit.
The fact that they traded him within the division solely to save 2 million in cap space tells you all you need to know about what the Ravens thought of him. As a Ravens fan I'm sad it didn't work out but he never made an impact.
I think this is a bit of an overly harsh assessment. While some 3rd round picks are impact players, more have no career. I think for a mid 3rd round DL to be a solid and versatile rotation player is probably an outcome at or above the mean. Wormley was a productive role player on a good defense. Saying you're disappointed it didn't work out for him is like saying you're disappointed Jake Rudock has won a Super Bowl. Also, don't lose sight of the fact that it is a new regime making personnel decisions in Baltimore. I think that is much more relevant than any level of under performance by Wormley.
For the record, I didn't neg you because of your comment on Wormley, but rather because you have the poor taste of being a Ravens fan. ;)
Played in all 16 games (7 starts) in 2019, registering 33 tackles (2 TFL), 2 passes defended and 1.5 sacks.
Talk about an intradivision rivalry. Good luck to CW. Good dude
