Chris Dunkley transfers to Pahokee
Chris Dunkley is transferring to Pahokee. Among others, he'll be playing alongside De'Joshua Johnson.
I don't think we'll get Dunkley, but it can't hurt that he's transferring to a school that has brought us Vincent Smith, Brandin Hawthorne, and Martavious Odoms.
I think it would be great, if Pahokee could become a pipeline for players to michigan, like cass tech has become over the last few years.
I believe that many of the sugar fields down there are scheduled to be closed down, possibly dropping the talent level in "the Muck." Although I'm not entirely certain that it will happen or that it would greatly affect the talent there, I think I have heard speculation that it may though.
Pahokee will be a ghost town in a few years. Sugarcane is the only thing keeping that place alive.
Nothing wrong with trying.
Does anyone know why the fields are being closed down?
Because they use an enormous amount of water for a relatively paltry harvest. That water will be allowed to runoff to the Everglades (which is what it originally did, before it was diverted to grow sugar), and thus rejuvenate that ecosystem. This sucks for the small number of people employed at the sugar plantations, but it's the right move overall.
The right move overall would be to drop the ridiculous sugar cane tariffs we have in place and import our sugar instead of paying insanely high prices to farmers growing sugar beets in the midwest.

True. We (and the rest of the developed world) refuse to play fair when it comes to agricultural policy.
Yes, this is correct.
...aren't being closed down, the sugar mills are leaving the area. The land the mills are on is being bought to restore water flow to the Everglades from Lake Ocechobee.
Google is your friend.

If the people leave, who will chase the rabbits?
I don't like this one bit.
