Big House

Ok this came from the Free Press' website:

Toledo coach Tom Amstutz: "We talked about how there's 110,000 fans, but they're unarmed and they can't shoot at us and they can't come onto the field, so you're playing Michigan and keep your focus on them.

I've heard similar quotes through the last few years. I think it's time we get our house back. Fans need to forget the team's struggles and direct it at the opponent. We need to make the Big House intimidating again. I'm not saying we should throw things out there or become like a$$hat OSU fans but I don't think it would hurt if we brought a little big of Yost into the Big House.

I don't think he's talking about the crowd being docile - I think he was just telling his team not to be intimidated by the size - sort of like Hoosiers when they measure the dimensions of the court.

M fans could take a page from the PSU fan book. Those guys support their team en masse in the stadium, and it is clearly displayed for all to see.

I often wish we had half the solidarity in the stands PSU does. That kind of support could do anything but help they guys on the field.

When PSU went through its stretch of losing seasons earlier in the decade, their stadium stopped selling out and those who did come often booed.  Their fans' newfound loyalty has neatly coincided with their football team's resurgence.
