Beloved UM Football Alums Giving Back - With our Help

Submitted by ButlerGoBlue on November 20th, 2023 at 9:22 AM

Welcome to OSU week my friends! Very long time reader here yet a first time thread starter. I hadn't felt inspired prior to this to brave the OP abuse but I'd like to think I saved my first for a damn good cause.

I was listening to the Jake Butt interview of Blake Corum last night on his podcast and was deeply inspired by the passion they both had for charity and using their platforms for the greater good. Jake was recounting that Blake's Thanksgiving giveaway inspired him to start a charity event of his own and it is a really cool one at that. He is teaming up with Josh Perry (yes, the OSU one) to leverage the passion that exists for the rivalry and turn it into something positive. I was really hit by his message that in the grand scheme of things in life this rivalry and game mean nothing...especially to families and children who struggle to keep a roof over their head and food on the table.

I am obviously looking through maize-colored glasses but I am very proud that it seems our most outstanding players on the football field are also outstanding human beings. There are very few  examples better than Jake and Blake and I hope our fanbase can continue to support them on their journey.

Jake Butt:

"The Game Gives Back"

As Jake stated on the podcast, and I have no reason to doubt its true, 100% of donations will go directly to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan and Central Ohio to support families in need.

Blake Corum:

"BC2 Give Back 2 Give Thanks"

As I'm sure anyone on this blog with a pulse is aware...Blake gives out Turkeys every year, using his own NIL money, to families in need in our local community. This year he passed out 600 turkeys and plans to continue the event once he starts his pro career. Although he doesn't have an official platform to accept donations, he did say you could message his NIL platform and/or Valiant to donate.

If you are aware of any other impactful charities from UM alumni please feel free to post them as well.

Thanks for the perspective check and raising awareness of some great charities. Thankful that my family is in a position to give this holiday season- and for those less fortunate please know that you are not less for it, and there are many ways to give of equal importance.

Highly reccomend donating to Hail! Impact - the 501c3 nonprofit group that's already worked with Michigan Football, Hockey, Women's Basketball, Softball and Gymnastics.

I follow them on Instagram and it looks like they partner with ChadTough, Huron Valley Humane Society, Girls Group, Peace Neighborhood Center, Ele's Place Ann Arbor, Cancer Support Community of Ann Arbor and Hope Clinic based on the events they've posted about.

Hailimpact.org to donate to any sport of your choice :)
